Summer FUN
The summer is a time when most of us are able to take a vacation, we take time off from school and lazy days by the pool. We don’t think much about what is going on outside our little bubble.
Last week at Eastgate, I was reminded about how we take the simple things for granted sometimes. I watched the kids go through a 5 gallon cooler of water in 10 minutes dousing themselves and friends in water because they didn’t have a pool to go cool off in.
We served 40 lunches and could have done more for the kids in the neighborhood. Most of the kids at Eastgate are part of the back pack ministry during the school year. So now that they don’t receive that assistance during the summer, they may go with only 1 meal a day, except when we come with food.
It’s hectic and crazy serving in Eastgate but we have successfully done this ministry for 15 years. When our Cornerstone Bus drives in, you would think the county fair was setting up and for the 2 hours of time on Wednesday, it has. When you see the smiles and hear the laughter it registers why we are there and why it says, “You are the light of the world. A city on top of a hill can’t be hidden,” Matthew 5:14.

ONLINE DIRECTORY

Very important! We need each family to review and update their information. Alternatively, as we missed some and have added many new people, we want to add you in to our online directory. This is the most effective way to know the membership. We want to keep it current. Contact Janet Pouelsen in the office or Paul Griffin: pmgriffin15@bellsouth.net with your info and photo.
