Happenings for September 13

UNITED METHODIST MEN’S MEETING

Men, just a reminder that the UMM meets tomorrow, Sept. 14th, at 8 am in the kitchen. All men of Cornerstone are welcome.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

It’s never too early to collect for Operation Christmas Child!  Our church has been taking donations with a different item each month. For the month of September, we will continue to collect money for the shipping costs. We have collected donations for at least 75 boxes, maybe more! Each box needs $9 for shipping, so for 75 boxes, we will need $675. You can donate by collecting change. You can pick up a donation bag in the Operation Christmas Child basket located in the narthex. If you would like to write a check, make it out to Cornerstone UMC and add Operation Christmas Child in the ‘for’ line. Any questions, please contact Katie Brown at 678-876-6670 or mkbrown864@gmail.com.

NAME TAGS

If you in need of a new or replacement name tag we will have information and sign ups next week in the bulletins. The cost will be $10 and will need to be paid when you place your order.

ONE ROOF “LODGE” NEWS

As you may recall we have been taking donations for the new shelter for women and children that One Roof has been working on. Well, good news! You are Invited! Please, join the Board of Directors of One Roof Outreach as they bless and open the new shelter, “The Lodge”. It will be on Sunday, September 22nd, at 3 pm. The address is 108 W. Washington Street, Newnan. This will be a blessing to so many people in our community and nice for us to see the project we have supported come into being.

CHURCH, MORE THANKS COMING TO OUR MISSION TEAM AND ALL WHO HELPED AND SERVED AT TRINITY TABLE A FEW WEEKS AGO.

“What a great day Sunday was!  Many may not think a day that started off with food trays that were not thawed and the men from Trinity House missing, was such a great day; but when I heard how well everyone worked together to make it all happen and guests were provided for, then I think it was an exceptional day.  Many thanks to you and your team for all you did.  The schedule was set for you to deliver to-go meals.  That’s it – no volunteers planned, and only the to-go meals.  But I told you I was floundering for volunteers and some of the food, I didn’t ask for more from Cornerstone, but you stepped up!  You brought volunteers!  You brought salad and dressing!  You brought supplies!  You brought fellowship and many blessings!”

“You may have met Mary Yoder, who was there as a volunteer; she is a member of Trinity UMC, and was instrumental in my being hired originally when TUMC managed the program.  She spoke of how well everyone worked together – one team, not a group from a church, a group from a sorority (I think), and some individuals, but one team with the goal of feeding hungry people.  She also mentioned how delighted the guests were to have individual packets of dressings of different flavors from which to choose.  Most who come to be fed have few choices in life. They don’t choose the menu, they don’t usually choose what they get to drink, they just don’t get to choose much of anything.  Something as small as being able to choose which dressing to put on their salad meant a LOT.”

“My thanks especially to you for jumping in for more than you signed up for, but please also share with everyone that was involved in planning, assembling, preparing and serving both the hot meals and the to-go meals.  You are surely a blessing to me, but more so to the guests who come to us for food and a few kind words.”

AND THE THANKS JUST KEEP ON COMING

CornerstoneKids Preschool would like to thank all who came out to the Spirit Night at Chick-fil-A last Monday Night. As always, Cornerstone people come out and support the school in a great way. The proceeds from this event will go to our preschool program and will help in expanding our area of service to the children.
