Scott Pickering

scott.pickeringI am excited to join the staff, volunteers, and worshippers at Cornerstone UMC. I’ve served at four churches before arriving at Cornerstone UMC: Mt. Pleasant UMC (Calhoun), Clarkdale UMC, Hopewell UMC (Tyrone), and County Line UMC (Acworth).

I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a minor in Psychology from Georgia Southern University. He earned a Master of Theological Studies from Candler School of Theology at Emory University. I was presented with a Doctor of Ministry degree from Wesley Theological Seminary in 2015 specializing in Church Leadership Excellence.

I am an Eagle Scout and remain very active in Scouting. I have served as a Shows Director at eleven National Order of the Arrow Conferences and four National Boy Scout Jamborees. In 1998, I was presented with the Gold Congressional Medal during a ceremony in the Rotunda of our nation’s Capitol.

Recently, Pastor Scott has been asked to serve on the Board of Directors for the General Commission on United Methodist Men for the next quadrennium.

I enjoy travelling, reading, and the great outdoors. I believe that one of the most critical ministries for a church is mission work within the community, region, and international arenas.
